Three hours, three towers
- Meet your guide at Tower Place, by the Tower shop
- Early-morning timed entry, straight past the ticket office
- Private audience with a Beefeater
- See the Crown Jewels in the Jewel House
- Explore the White Tower and its armouries
- Stand on Tower Green, where three queens died
What a private audience with a Warder is
Fifteen to twenty minutes with a serving Yeoman Warder, arranged for your party rather than shouted across a crowd. They are all retired warrant officers with at least 22 years' service, and they live inside the walls. It is the difference between hearing a set piece and being able to ask a question.
Three hours, and where they go
Ninety minutes on the grounds and in the outer ward, half an hour in the Jewel House, and an hour in the keep and its armouries. That is the longest time inside the walls of any VIP departure here, and it is why the itinerary reaches Tower Green rather than stopping at the regalia.
The upgrade that adds the river
An optional upgrade adds a Thames cruise, which turns a morning into a day. There is also a shorter White Tower option led by a Tower warden, and it is worth reading which one you are selecting: the White Tower option does not include the private audience with a Beefeater.
Who this suits, and who should book something else
Book this if
Small parties who want the fortress explained rather than narrated. Anyone whose whole reason for coming is to meet a Beefeater. Travellers who would rather ask questions than listen.
Book something else if
You are on a budget, or there are more than six of you, or the thing you actually want is simply to get in.
The day ticket, with its free Warder tour is the one to look at instead.

Know before you go
- Meet outside Starbucks at Tower Place. 3 Tower Place, EC3R 5BT, fifteen minutes before the start.
- Bookings cap at six travellers. Larger parties need the private tours instead.
- A great many stairs, some very narrow. The keep has no lift; wear shoes you can manage them in.
- Not recommended with back problems. The cobbles and the three hours on your feet are the reason.

What travellers said about this one
Ben brought the Tower of London to life, and meeting Yeoman Warder Barry, forty years in service, was the high point. Our group of ten felt exactly the right size.
Jonathan · Couple · August 2026
Miranda told stories the whole way round, and the Beefeater section covered what the job actually involves with time for questions.
Rachel · Family · August 2026
Amber gave us the background then sent us off with a list of things to look for. One warning: a great many stairs, and some of them very narrow.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Beefeater time really private?
It is arranged for your group rather than shouted across a crowd. The Warder is on duty rather than exclusively yours for the morning, and the difference is that you can ask them something.
Is there a cheaper way to meet a Beefeater?
Yes, and it is worth saying: a Yeoman Warder tour is included with any admission ticket. The day ticket gets you that for a third of this price. What you are buying here is booked time and a small group.
Does the guide come into the Jewel House?
No. The venue does not permit guiding inside the Jewel House or the keep, so your guide hands you over at the door and picks you up after.
How many people will be on it?
Bookings are capped at six travellers. The departure as a whole is capped at 30, so you may be part of a slightly larger group on the grounds. The Beefeater time is arranged for your party.
Can we add the Thames cruise?
Yes. It is an optional upgrade on the listing, and it is the natural way to turn the morning into a full day.
Can I cancel?
Yes, in full, up to 24 hours before the start time. Inside that window the fare is not refunded and changes are not accepted.
