Where Tower of London Tours Start

Eleven different meeting addresses, and one of them is three miles from the gate. Turning up at the wrong one is the most expensive mistake available here, so here is every one of them.

There is no single meeting point

The fortress has one visitor entrance, and almost none of these tours meets at it. Operators gather groups outside the paid area, and the cluster of addresses around Tower Place, Lower Thames Street and Tower Hill covers several different doorways within a few hundred metres of each other. The postcode is not enough on its own: what matters is which building you are standing outside and what the guide is holding.

Which departure you have booked decides which of these you want, and the listings are compared with their start times on tower of london night tour. If you are still working out how to reach the area at all, the transport page covers the stations.

Around Tower Place and the Tower shop

The largest cluster. Several operators meet outside the Tower of London shop on Tower Place West, across the road from the entrance. One meets directly outside the Starbucks in the same block. Groups from different companies stand within a few metres of each other here. Check the sign rather than joining the nearest cluster of people with lanyards.

At the official ticket office

A pair of the private departures and the small-group tour meet on the Tower Hill side, at or beside the ticket office at 2 Tower Hill. One of them uses the Learning and Community Groups Centre on the slope past it, where the guide holds a sign with the lead traveller’s name. That is the one to know if you have booked privately and are looking for a company logo that will not be there.

At Tower Hill station

A pair of departures meet at the station rather than the fortress. One gathers by the Citizen M hotel and Trinity Square Gardens, next to the Tower Hill Tram refreshment stand; the other at the station’s western exit, where the guide carries a flagpole with a Union Jack on it. Both are a few minutes’ walk uphill from the gate.

At Tower Bridge Quay

The river tour leaves from its own pier on St Katharine’s Way, beside the fortress and the bridge. It is a short walk east from the entrance and it is a boarding time rather than a meeting time — the boat leaves when the ticket says it leaves.

Three miles west, in Westminster

The full-day London tours begin in Parliament Square, at the Viscount Palmerston statue or the statue of Abraham Lincoln, and reach the fortress by river in the afternoon. If you have booked one of those and set an alarm for Tower Hill, you have already lost the morning. It is the single most consequential detail here.

Meeting points as each listing states them, 26 August 2026. The operator's confirmation email is always the final word — check it the night before.

If you are running late

Contact the operator through the number or chat on your confirmation, and do it before the start time rather than after. Guides work to a fixed slot, particularly the early-morning departures, and a group that has gone in through the gate cannot come back out for you. If you miss a departure entirely, the 24-hour cancellation window has already closed, so the call is worth making early.

Screenshot the meeting instructions before you leave the hotel. Phone signal around the moat is patchy, and every one of these listings describes the meeting point in a sentence that is far more useful than the address on its own.

How to reach Tower Hill in the first place is on the transport page, and each tour’s own start time sits with its listing on Tower of London Tours.
